Both debaters and parents will be
learning a new language. Below are definitions of some of the
terminology you will need to know.

First Speaker - It is their job to speak first and define the
topic of the debate and link it to the motion.
Points of Information - They are a vital part of any debate and
it keeps the adjudicators aware of your presence, ideas and argument.
They can also be used as a weapon to undermine or even destroy an
opponent's speech.
Opposition Leader - It is their role to set out the opposition
to the proposition's case. It is their duty to decide if the
case is debatable and submit an alternative definition.
Timekeepers - Their job is to keep an eye on the time and
inform each speaker how much time has passed and how much time they
have left to wrap up their speech.
